I am happy to know that the Institution of Engineers (India), UP State Centre is shortly going to launch its revamped website. The Institution of Engineers (India) was established in 1920 and granted coveted Royal Charter on 9th September 1935 by His Majesty King George V with the sole objective "to promote and advance the science,practice and business of engineering in all its branches in India". Today the IEI has grown to a multi-disciplinary nationwide organization having an overall membership of 0.8 million out of which 0.25 million are the Corporate Members. It is the largest body of its kind in whole of Asia with international status and having bilateral relations with following Professional Bodies round the globe:-
IEI functions with and amongst Professional Engineers,Academicians & researchers and provides an array technical & value added professional services to the govt., industries, academic and engineering communities. It has got 125 State & Local Centres spread all over India and 6 overseas Chapters.
With a view to create awareness & focus on specific aspects of engineering, IEI has established 7 special interest Fora viz. National Design & Research Forum (NDRF), National Skill Development Forum (NSDF), Rural Development Forum (RDF), Water Management Forum (WMF), Sustainable Development Forum (SDF), Safety & Quality Forum (SQF) and Disaster Awareness & Mitigation Forum (DAMF).
The Engineering Staff College of India (ESCI) at Hyderabad, an autonomous organ of IEI is a well established training centre imparting continuing education, refresher courses and skill development in collaboration with Central/State Govts. and Industry.
